Through persecution, superstition and habitat destruction, various raptor species throughout South Africa are starting to find their numbers declining. Unfortunately, accurate density checks have not been conducted recently. Eagle Encounters will utilize its ‘non-releasable’ raptors to breed chicks that can then be raised for release. It is our intention to document all breeding procedures and results, per species, for implementation in time for crisis. Hopefully our experience, expertise and gene pool will prove particularly valuable should the necessity arise.
