Farm and rural community outreaches

Eagle Encounters supports and promotes organic farming methods. Unfortunately circumstances, misconceptions and superstitions have shed bad light on many raptor species, who now find themselves being poisoned, shot or brutally trapped in the limited land left available to them for breeding and survival. The ‘muti’ or black magic trade also has a considerable following in South Africa and certain raptors are sought-after victims of this savage practice. Our philosophy in this regard is that it is considerably easier to victimise that with which you have never had a personal encounter. Therefore, we conduct outreaches to farms, rural communities and underprivileged schools in an effort to personally introduce our birds, present the facts, dispel the myths and encourage the practice of organic farming methods through co-existence.
